Psychological Assessment and Testing
What is it?
A clinical psychological evaluation is a comprehensive, evidence-based assessment designed to understand an child or adult’s cognitive, emotional, and behavioral functioning. Rather than simply assigning a diagnostic label, an evaluation serves as an objective roadmap—clarifying complex symptoms, identifying core strengths and vulnerabilities, and providing tailored, actionable recommendations for treatment, supports, or personal growth. Evaluations are conducted with the highest commitment to privacy and discretion, available in-person and via secure telehealth across PSYPACT-participating states.
How It Works in My Practice
Drawing on the high diagnostic standards, I provide comprehensive assessments, using battery of validated instruments to look diverse mental health issues. The evaluation process typically includes:
Clinical Diagnostic Interview: An in-depth discussion covering personal history, current symptoms, developmental milestones, and primary concerns.
Standardized Testing & Assessment: Administration of gold-standard psychological measures, which may include cognitive tests, symptom inventories, personality measures, and diagnostic questionnaires.
Data Integration & Report: Comprehensive scoring and synthesis of all interview data, testing results, and relevant records into a formal clinical report.
Feedback Session: A dedicated meeting to review findings in plain language, answer questions, and discuss next steps and evidence-based treatment pathways.
Areas of Clinical Application
Clinical evaluations are tailored to address a wide range of diagnostic and practical questions across the lifespan:
Diagnostic Clarification: Differential diagnosis for complex presentations such as mood disorders, severe anxiety, trauma-related conditions, OCD, and personality dynamics.
Neurodevelopmental & Executive Functioning: Assessing ADHD, attentional control, learning differences, and cognitive profiles in children, adolescents, and adults.
Treatment Planning & Readiness: Providing baseline insights for individuals entering therapy or clarifying why previous therapeutic or psychiatric interventions stalled.
Academic & Professional Accommodations: Thorough documentation meeting stringent standards for standardized testing accommodations and workplace adjustments.
Adolescent & Young Adult Transition Challenges: Comprehensive assessment for adolescents and emerging adults facing academic pressure, school refusal, social issues, sudden performance declines, or difficulties launching into higher education.
